Art and culture

Radebeul is home to many artists. Sculptors and painters open their studios to visitors, actors and puppeteers meet for theatre festivals. Concerts, readings and exhibitions are held, some of them at extraordinary venues.

Stroll around the historical village of Altkoetzschenbroda or pay a visit to the Villa Shatterhand and Villa Bärenfett, which are part of the Karl May Museum. The highlights of the year include the Karl May Festival, the Radebeuler Kasperiade (puppet festival) and the Autumn and Wine Festival.

Theatre enthusiasts go to the Landesbühnen Sachsen, a touring theatre based in Radebeul, or to one of the many theatres of the capital, Dresden.

In the largest existing museum about life in the GDR (1949-1989) you can set out on a journey back in time.
Radebeul is a good starting point for outings to Dresden, Meißen and Moritzburg, all of which are about 15 minutes away.
